Haeckel in Chartreuse
Haeckel in Chartreuse, the companion piece to ‘Haeckel in Sapphire’ is an original hand made three dimensional embroidery set into a real piece of found timber, inspired by the art work of German zoologist and biologist Ernst Haeckel
The limited colour palette of navy, chartreuse and grey, along with an array of textures including tulle, velvet, wool, silk, and glass beads tempt you to look closer, to notice the details.
Lichen and fungi reminiscent of their oceanic cousins; anemones, kelp and seagrass, cling steadfastly to the timber, while jellyfish inspired mushrooms entwine themselves delicately around one another.
Set out from the boxed frame without glass to allow you to study the piece from multiple angles and on a simple mat black background, Haeckel in Chartreuse will compliment any space you choose to display it.
Finished frame 20cm x 20cm x 3cm with the embroidery continuing another 6cm out from the frame.
